The Tree of Love

The church celebrated St. Francis of Asissi’s feast day this week, and in St. Francis we find a man never lost the love he had at first, to quote from the book of Revelation. So I wanted to feature one of his poems. I hope you enjoy it!

The tree of love its roots hath spread
Deep in my heart, and rears its head;
Rich are its fruits: they joy dispense;
Transport the heart, and ravish sense.
In love’s sweet swoon to thee I cleave,
Bless’d source of love . . . ,
