Hello friends! This is a slightly different type of newsletter today. I published my first post almost two years ago exactly, and I began writing that post over two years ago. It was a joyful time in my life, but marked by a lot of free time and not a ton of mental stimulation. Staying at home with a newborn has plenty of stimulation, little of it mental. This newsletter was perfect for that moment. In the time since, we have read over 130 poems together, and I am so grateful for each of you who read along with me. You all helped me rediscover the joy of thought.
Now, teaching more than a full class load, with a toddler, a baby, and another on the way, I am discovering a drastically different moment. I am reading plenty of poetry, but I just don’t have the time to put my words to paper. So, I will be pausing all paid subscriptions to From Beauty to Truth as well as stepping back from writing on a regular basis. This website will stay up, and you might still find the occasional poem from me in your inbox. Thank you once again for sharing your time and your headspace with me.
I would like to leave you with my favorite good bye song. Good night, and joy be to you all.
Of all the money that e'er I had I spent it in good company And all the harm I've ever done Alas it was to none but me And all I've done for want of wit To mem'ry now I can't recall So fill to me the parting glass Good night and joy be to you all So fill to me the parting glass And drink a health whate’er befall, And gently rise and softly call Good night and joy be to you all
