This poem started when I was holding my newborn son late one night. Ok, not late, but late for a paw paw like me. I was tired, it had been a long day at work and he had been crying a lot. My wife was in the shower, and while I was sitting in a chair downstairs, holding him upright, the strangest thing happened. He stopped crying, turned his head, and looked directly at me. I couldn’t think, I couldn’t move, I did nothing. But it was a transcendental moment. A week or so of thought later, and this poem is one of the lesser fruits of that moment. I hope you enjoy it!
